Exploring Responsible Use of Social Media and Artificial Intelligence in San Pedro de Buena Vista
With great enthusiasm and gratitude, a workshop on social media and artificial intelligence was held at the Colegio Nacional Charcas and the Instituto Técnico Superior Charcas, located in the town of San Pedro de Buena Vista. This event would not have been possible without the valuable support of the district director of education of the municipality of San Pedro, the director of Colegio Nacional Charcas, the rector of Instituto Técnico Superior Charcas and all the participants. We also deeply thank the Vásquez family for having welcomed us during our stay, making us feel at home.
The workshop, led by Roy B. Pérez Pastor, aimed to educate students about the benefits and risks associated with the use of social media, as well as to encourage proper and ethical management of artificial intelligence tools. This trip from the town of Torotoro to San Pedro de Buena Vista was not only an opportunity to share knowledge, but also to appreciate the geographical and cultural wonders that enrich this region.
During the sessions, students participated actively, showing a notable interest in the topics addressed. Firstly, it was discussed how social networks can be a powerful tool for communicating, sharing information and learning, but also how their irresponsible use can bring significant risks. Pérez Pastor emphasized the importance of correctly configuring privacy on digital platforms and being aware of the dangers of cyberbullying and misinformation.
The second part of the workshop was dedicated to artificial intelligence, a highly topical issue that sparked the curiosity of young people. It was explained how this technology is already part of our lives and can be used in educational and creative tasks. Students learned about practical applications, such as process automation, content generation and information search, always highlighting the need to use these tools in an ethical and responsible manner.
This meeting also allowed for strengthening ties between local educational institutions, students and facilitators, promoting collaborative learning. At the end of the workshop, many participants expressed feeling more prepared to face the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities offered by both social media and artificial intelligence.
The experience in San Pedro de Buena Vista was enriching not only because of the shared learning, but also because of the warmth of its people and the beauty of the surroundings. These types of activities reinforce the commitment to education and the development of digital skills in communities that, although remote, are full of potential and enthusiasm.
Thank you to everyone involved for making this workshop a success and for contributing to the personal and academic growth of the students in this region.
